MGM Ups Chris Ottinger to President of International TV Distribution, Acquisitions

He had previously served as executive vice president of worldwide television at the company.

Moving to reorganized television activities at MGM, Chris Ottinger has been promoted to president of international television distribution and acquisitions by Roma Khanna, MGM’s new president television group and digital.

Ottinger had previously been executive vice president, worldwide television. He has been at MGM since 2007. Ottinger will now have oversight of all international TV distribution and acquisitions.

“Chris has proven himself to be a dynamic and excellent executive.  I have no doubt that he will be a fantastic leader for our growing international TV business," said Khanna, who is expected to relocate from London to take her new position as soon as the week after July 4th.

Since joining MGM, Ottinger has overseen international pay television  and is credited for closing pay television output deals in Italy, France, Germany, Poland and Central Europe. He also supervised MGM’s television production and development activities and was responsible for shows including Teen Wolf on MTV and Mildred Pierce on HBO in addition to managing a development slate of over 15 projects.

Ottinger re-joined MGM in 2007 from Fox where he had been executive vice president for Fox World and Fox Television Studios International. Before that, he was senior vice president, business development and co-production for Paramount International Television and before that, in his first stint at MGM, he was executive directorof business affairs for international and domestic television operations.

Gary Marenzi, who had previously done the duties now assumed by Ottinger, left the studio at the end of last week.
