Michael Douglas on Globes Nom: 'I Was Ready for Good News'

The actor, who has been battling throat cancer, tells THR his best supporting actor nom is “an honor.”
Michael Douglas says the news of his Golden Globe nom for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps was welcome news in light of his cancer battle.
"To be selected with these extraordinary nominees is an honor and boy was I ready for some good news!" Douglas, who was recognized in the best supporting actor category, tells The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.
Douglas will go against Christian Bale in The Fighter, Andrew Garfield in The Social Network, Jerermy Renner in The Town and Geoffrey Rush in The King's Speech. Read the full list of nominees.
Douglas broke his silence about his Stage 4 throat cancer diagnosis in a November interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"I’ve been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support,” he said, choking up. “Cancer has shown me what family is. It showed me a love that I never knew really existed.”
He's already at work on his next film, the title role in Steven Soderbergh’s Liberace, which starts shooting in May or June and will require special prosthetic work as well as musical training
