Michael Moore, Douglas Trumbull to Address Toronto Film Fest Industry Events
TORONTO — Michael Moore is set to headline a documentary conference at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival, organizers said Tuesday.
Moore also will be in Toronto for a 25th anniversary screening of Roger & Me, in addition to his appearance at the September 9-10 doc conference.
Roger & Me focused on General Motors as Moore's hometown of Flint, Michigan, became a ghost town and the filmmaker attempted to meet the carmaker's chairman, Roger Smith.
As the September event unveiled early plans for its industry conferences, Legendary East's Peter Loehr was booked to provide the keynote speech at the Asian Film Summit on September 9.
The September 5-11 industry conference in Toronto will feature U.S. director and special effect pioneer Douglas Trumbull as a keynote speaker, with added speakers to include IM Global CEO Stuart Ford; Claudia Bluemhuber, managing partner at Silver Reel; Secret Cinema founder Fabien Riggall; and Roberto Olla, executive director of Eurimages.
Toronto organizers also indicated they booked U.S. producer Jim Stark and French director Claire Denis as mentors for its annual Talent Lab to train emerging Canadian and international filmmakers.
The Toronto Film Festival will make additional programming announcements over the coming weeks ahead of the September 4-14 event.
