A Walk in His Shoes: Michael Phelps Custom Olympics Kicks Feature Son's Tiny Footprint
The Olympian, who's been named Team USA's flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony, will also have the honor of wearing the light-up jacket by Ralph Lauren.
As Michael Phelps, 18-time Olympic medalist, heads to Rio for the Summer Olympics, he'll have a piece of his baby boy Boomer with him for good luck.
Phelps included his newborn's tiny footprint on the inner soles of his custom Under Armour kicks, the three-time Olympic gold medalist revealed via Twitter on Sunday. "Loving @MichaelPhelps shoes w son Boomer's foot imprint on one of them...so dang cute," wrote the NBC Sports commentator.
Phelps and fiancée Nicole Johnson welcomed their son May 5, and not surprisingly Boomer, who's quite the Instagram star with 63k followers, is already following in his papa's footsteps (breaststrokes?).
"The little man loved the water today!! @boomerrphelps and I got some extra laps in today!! #mpswim," Phelps captioned on Instagram.
Phelps will be able to pair his custom kicks with the Ralph Lauren light-up jacket as he's been selected as Team USA's flag bearer for the Opening Ceremony, which kicks off Friday. And for those who haven't seen what the Ralph Lauren design looks like, here's a teaser below. Perhaps there'll be a mini version for Boomer in the future.
