Michael Rothstein Named New President of International Sales at IM Global
The former Weinstein Co. executive replaces Jonathan Deckter.
Former Weinstein Co. executive Michael Rothstein has been named the new president of international sales and distribution at IM Global.
Rothstein will oversee IM Global's sales and licensing operations of both new and library titles. He will also take on a managing role at the company's southeast Asian distribution venture Apsara Distribution and will serve on the board of IM Global's Latin American joint venture Mundial
Rothstein last held the position of president of international at TWC, a company he was with from its start in 2005 through 2013. Before that, from 1997-2004, he was a sales executive at Miramax Films, where he worked with IM Global founder and CEO Stuart Ford. Rothstein replaces outgoing president Jonathan Deckter, who has left IM Global after five years with the company.
"It’s over a decade since Michael and I were colleagues at Miramax, and since then I've watched with admiration as he's grown into one of the most respected and well-liked sales chiefs in the industry,” said Ford in a statement. “Not only will Michael be a strong frontman for our industry-leading international sales platform, he will also be a key contributor to our broader corporate expansion activities."
A subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Reliance ADA, IM Global is producing and financing upcoming actioner Autobahn starring Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley; Secret in Their Eyes featuring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts; Viral from directors Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman; and Incarnate starring Aaron Eckhart.
The company is in preproduction on The Man Who Made It Snow from The Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua and starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which IM Global is producing in partnership with The Weinstein Co., and The Autopsy of Jane Doe from Norwegian director Andre Ovredal (Trollhunter) starring Brian Cox and Emile Hirsch.
Highlights of IM Global's sales slate also include Mel Gibson's upcoming WWII drama Hacksaw Ridge, starring Andrew Garfield, a big presale title in Berlin earlier this year; The Free State of Jones, a Civil War epic from The Hunger Games director Gary Ross starring Matthew McConaughey; and Martin Scorsese’s Silence, also starring Garfield alongside Liam Neeson.
