TORONTO -- The Fight Network, Canada's martial arts cable channel, on Tuesday said it has hired Patrick Michaud away from rival sports channel Score Media to serve as its new CFO.

Toronto-based Fight Network also said that former Alliance Atlantis movie distribution executive Paul Laberge has joined the network's executive suite as COO.

"Our goal is to make the Fight Network a global media brand," said George Burger, the channel's president and CEO. "With the addition of Patrick and Paul, we have the skills, leadership and experience the company needs to achieve that goal."

Michaud announced last week that he was leaving his job as executive vp and CFO at Score Media, which operates The Score, a headline sports channel. In his new position, he will keep the Fight Network's financial books and help with corporate development.

Last summer, Laberge left Alliance Atlantis's movie distribution arm, Motion Picture Distribution LP, as executive vp and general counsel after nine years in the post.

He now becomes COO at the Fight Network, responsible for its day-to-day operations. Laberge also will help accelerate the Canadian channel's distribution of content on emerging digital platforms, including VOD, radio, mobile and online.
