The Event: Ahead of Monday night's Met Gala, the Metropolitan Museum opened its renovated $40 million costume center, now renamed the Anna Wintour Costume Center, on Monday. The first lady handled the honorary duty of cutting the ribbon, and also announced that she and Anna Wintour are working on organizing a fashion workshop at the White House for students. Wintour helped raise more than $2 million toward Obama's presidential reelection campaign.

"I'm so impressed by Anna's contributions, not just to fashion but to this great museum," said Obama. "This center is for anyone who cares about fashion and how it impacts our culture and our history."

Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Donatella Versace, Carolina Herrera and Sarah Jessica Parker were among the many fashion insiders celebrating the historical moment -- both for the museum and style community.

Why We Dig: MObama hardly ever disappoints when it comes to her sartorial selections -- and this time was no different. The floral embroidered frock was the perfect way to usher in the change in seasons -- and the museum's rebrand of one of the most celebrated spaces in fashion. What else did we also love? Seeing the first lady make the Vogue editor-in-chief smile so geniunely. D'aww.
