The singer and LGBT activist came up with an original way to add value to the already-autographed instrument.

Miley Cyrus received the Vanguard Award from the LGBT Center on Nov. 7 in honor of the work she's done with her Happy Hippie Foundation to promote the welfare of LGBT youth — but her philanthropic tendencies became a little more eclectic at the gala itself.

While helping Linda Perry auction off a white grand piano (all to benefit the Center), Cyrus came up with an original way to add value to the already-autographed instrument: by licking it.

Once Cyrus licked the piano, it ended up selling for $50,000. "I want all of you to know that I feel beyond grateful to be in a room full of so many…people who care so much about others because unfortunately that is way too rare in the world that we live in today," Cyrus told the audience after accepting her award. "I'm thinking of tonight not as celebrating what we've already done but what we're doing and what we're going to do in the future."
