Digital Domain president Mark Miller has been promoted to CEO of the visual effects company. He also will continue as president and retain his seat on the board of directors.

The Venice, Calif.-based company is owned by Wyndcrest Holdings, an investment firm whose principals include director Michael Bay and former Microsoft exec Carl Stork. Miller will take over CEO duties from Stork, who will now serve as vice chairman of the board.

Miller joined Digital Domain in 2006 after 22 years at Industrial Light + Magic, where he had most recently served as vp and senior executive in charge of production and marketing.

Said Bay: "In addition to 'Transformers,' Mark has contributed his expertise to several of my films. It's exciting to know that his guidance and vision will carry Digital Domain into the future."

Added Stork: "It's great to recognize Mark's contribution with this promotion to CEO. I certainly plan to remain an active voice in the direction of this company, and I look forward to my new role as vice chairman."

In addition to "Transformers," Digital Domain's recent credits include "Zodiac" and the upcoming "The Golden Compass."
