MIP TV 2013: Comedian Steve Harvey to Woo International Buyers For New Syndicated Talkshow
Endemol Studios is also flying in Mark Strong and Lennie James to promote new AMC series 'Low Winter Sun.'
COLOGNE, Germany - Steve Harvey is heading to the Cote d'Azur to promote his new eponymous daytime talk show to international buyers at global TV conference MIP TV in Cannes in April.
Production giant Endemol, which produce Harvey's show and handle sales outside the U.S., will host a special cocktail party for buyers and press at the Carlton Hotel on Monday April 8. NBCUniversal distributes the show stateside.
Endemol will also fly Zero Dark Thirty actor Mark Strong and Britain's Lennie James (The Walking Dead) to Cannes to promote the new drama series Low Winter Sun, a co-production between AMC Studios and Endemol Studios.
The showrunner for the new crime series, Chris Mundy, whose credits also include long-running procedurals Criminal Minds and Cold Case, will also appear at MIP to pitch the series at an Endemol press conference on Monday, April 8.
Based on the award-winning British mini-series of the same name written by Simon Donald and produced by Endemol subsidiary Tiger Aspect Productions, Low Winter Sun focuses on a crooked Detroit detective who kills a fellow cop, an act that sends him deeper into the heart of the city's underworld.
Fox International Channels has picked up the exclusive first Pay-TV window rights for Low Winter Sun outside of the U.S, Canada and France and plans to launch the series across 120 countries in Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa later this year.
The 50th MIP TV runs April 8-11 in Cannes.
