Nominations for the 40th International Emmy Awards were unveiled in Cannes by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences during the Mipcom TV market.
There are 38 nominees in nine categories. Winners will receive their trophies at the awards' gala on Nov. 19 in New York City.
Nominations span 15 countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The 2012 International Emmy competitions have three rounds of judging over a period of six months, with participation from jurors across 67 countries.
"At the first International Emmys in 1972, there were only two categories: Fiction and Non-Fiction. Today, we have 20 categories presented over four different awards ceremonies." said Bruce Paisner, president-CEO of the I-Academy.
