MIPCOM: Doc on Second Royal Baby to Be Shopped to Buyers
'Kate Middleton: Heir We Go Again!' is from Britain's Woodcut Media
U.K.-based Woodcut Media is currently in production on documentary Kate Middleton: Heir We Go Again! and will shop it to buyers at Mipcom.
The hour-long documentary "celebrates" the second pregnancy of Kate Middleton and will look at the various ways her second child with Prince William affects the family and country, the firm said. The project will look at Middleton's morning sickness, how she juggles pregnancy with motherhood, and which designers she’ll likely pick, the firm said.
The film will be presented to buyers for the first time in Cannes by distributor TCB Media Rights.
"Closely spaced siblings are a royal tradition, so with Kate and William’s first son, George, born just over a year ago and in line to be king, the documentary will also take a look at the implications for their next child," Woodcut said. "How will he or she get on with their sibling? Will there be a bond or rivalry? What would happen if Prince George ever abdicated? Would this child being a ‘spare heir’ have more freedom to live their life?"
The project will feature contributions from expert commentators, journalists and figures close to the royal family, including Princess Diana’s ex-bodyguard. It is produced by Cheryl Gibbs (A Royal Arrival, Prince George at One, William and Kate – Baby Makes Three) and executive produced by Woodcut's Derren Lawford.
"We are confident this documentary will attract a global audience, as the British royal family is one of the most recognized families in the world," said Kate Beal, CEO and joint creative director for Woodcut Media. "With Kate Middleton and Prince William constantly in the public eye, this documentary will offer viewers a unique perspective on Kate’s journey as she deals with her second pregnancy, whilst looking after Prince George."
