MIPCOM: Fox International Channels Takes Israeli Series 'False Flag'
The deal marks FIC's first global acquisition of a non-English-language series.
Fox International Channels have taken exclusive global first-window rights for Israeli spy series False Flag from Keshet International.
The deal, announced at MIPCOM Tuesday, will see FIC carry Keshet's Hebrew-language drama to its branded channels across 127 countries worldwide. It marks the first time FIC has done such a global deal for a non-English-language series.
The espionage thriller focuses on five ordinary Israeli citizens who are implicated – and publicly named – as culprits in a high-profile kidnapping. False Flag had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in February and won the audience award, together with HBO's Olive Kitteridge, at France's Series Mania festival in April.
FIC's recently launched production studio, Fox International Studios, has picked up English-language remake rights to False Flag.
“We identified this project at an early stage of development and are thrilled be in partnership with KI and own the rights of both the Israeli version and the U.S. remake,” said Sharon Tal, executive vp scripted programming and original development at FIC. “We're looking forward to bringing both to the world very soon."
