MIPCOM: SundanceTV Takes Heist Drama 'The Last Panthers' for U.S.
The six-part crime import, starring Samantha Morton and Tahar Rahim, will debut stateside in the spring, with the network becoming a co-producer.
Sky Atlantic's diamond heist drama The Last Panthers is headed to SundanceTV in the U.S.
SundanceTV, which has been the U.S. home of imports like Top of the Lake, Babylon and Deutschland 83, will co-finance the series about the real-life Pink Panthers gang of diamond thieves and have a co-production credit on the show. The six-part series, which stars Samantha Morton, Tahar Rahim and John Hurt, is having its world premiere at MIPCOM on Monday.
The series is based on the crimes of the gang known for its bold robberies and inventive ways of hiding its hauls. Commissioned by Sky Atlantic and Canal Plus, The Last Panthers from Haut et Court TV and Warp Films was filmed in Marseille, Belgrade, Montenegro and London.
Sky will premiere The Last Panthers on Nov. 12 simultaneously in the U.K., Ireland, Italy, Germany, and Austria. CanalPlus will also debut in France later this year, with SundanceTV to premiere the series in spring 2016.
