MIPTV 2014: Nordic World to Rep Danish Broadcaster TV2's Full Slate
The Scandinavian sales group will handle all of TV2's programming, including the "Downton Abbey”-style period drama “The Seaside Hotel” and all non-fiction formats.
Scandinavian sales group Nordic World has signed a deal with leading Danish commercial broadcaster TV2 to handle the company's entire slate of drama and non-fiction programming.
The deal includes The Seaside Hotel, a 1920s-set period drama that's has garnered a 57 percent audience share of TV2 in its first season and has been called a Danish Downton Abbey. Nordic World will also handle international sales for all of TV2's reality and show formats, which had previously gone through French group Banijay International. Nordic will be pitching TV2 titles to international buyers at next month's MIPTV conference in Cannes.
Nordic already handles international sales on all productions from its shareholders, commercial networks TV2 Norway and TV4 Sweden.
The group recently signed a series of first-look deals with some of Scandinavia's top indie production companies and took a majority stake in Absolutely Independent, the format agency founded and run by veteran TV exec Patty Geneste. Nordic World also has a first-look deal in place with London-based operation Boxatricks.
