MIPTV: Armoza Unveils Three Canadian TV Format Deals
French Canadian SVOD tou.tv plans a local version of the Israeli Channel 10 thriller "Hostages," which was earlier adapted by CBS for the U.S. market.
TORONTO -- Armoza Formats has sold three formats for the Canadian market.
Following news of a co-development and distribution deal with Quebecor Media, Israeli-based Armoza has sold the format for the Channel 10 dramatic thriller Hostages to the French Canadian SVOD platform tou.tv, in partnership with ACE Entertainment.
CBS earlier adapted Hostages from Israeli producer Chaim Sharir and writers Omri Givon and Rotem Shamir for the U.S. market.
Quebec cable channel VRAK.TV, in partnership with Zone3, has picked up the game show While You Were Sleeping, to air this fall in French Canada.
Bristow Global Media has also acquired the format rights for Canada to the factual series You, Me and My Ex, created by Buzz Productions and distributed by Armoza. The reality series gives divorcees the opportunity to unite their old family with their new one.
The format of You, Me and My Ex has been taken by Bristow Global Media for English Canada, as part of a separate deal with Armoza.
The Israeli-based distributor's agreement with Quebecor Media will see Armoza become the exclusive distributor of shows from the Quebec media group's QMI Content division, which includes series on TVA, Quebec's biggest private broadcaster.
Armoza will launch two TVA formats at MIPTV: the scripted psychological thriller The Killer Inside, and the family game show Only One Knows, which has a 30 percent audience share in Quebec after 350 episodes have been produced and aired.
