MIPTV to launch two-day Producers' Forum

Co-production to also feature during MIPDOC market

PARIS -- International producers will be in the spotlight at this year's upcoming MIPTV market when a new two-day Producers' Forum focusing on project development, financing and new business models launches on April 12, organizers Reed MIDEM said Tuesday.

The Forum, organized in association with World Screen, will feature a series of producer-friendly events including discussion panels, co-production workshops, an entertainment master class and pitching tips from the "Pitch Doctor," Paul Boross.

"Avatar" franchise consultant and CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment Jeff Gomez will join "Lost" multiplatform campaign creator and Hoodlum co-founder and CCO Nathan Mayfield for a creative course focusing on developing successful cross-media storytelling and content.

Networking meetings will also be held during the Forum to facilitate global business deals for the international producers participating.

"We are launching the Producers' Forum as an effective and focused learning and networking solution to help producers keep abreast of the current co-production trends in order to take advantage of new business opportunities," Reed MIDEM's director of the television division Laurine Garaude said.

Co-production will also be one of the main focuses of the MIPDOC market, which will run April 10-11 at the Martinez Hotel in Cannes. MIPDOC will feature several programs meant to boost co-production deals and help documentary producers find funding including a pitching workshop, a matchmaking breakfast for potential co-producers a co-production and deal-making event, plus the sixth annual MIPDOC Co-Production Challenge. The MIPTV Producer's Forum will run April 12 and 13th in Cannes, during the April 12-16 market.
