MIPTV, Sony Corporation Team for 3D Content Initiative

A 3D TV Broadcast Content Experience pavilion will be set up in the main exhibition zone of the confab.

 

PARIS -- MIPTV 2011 will head into a new dimension with the launch of a 3D content initiative in partnership with Sony Corporation, organizers Reed MIDEM said Friday.

A "3DTV Broadcast Content Experience" pavilion will be set up in the main exhibition zone with the goal of facilitating and developing business between 3D content producers and 3D channels.

Buyers and producers can meet and mingle in the pavilion and MIPTV attendees can view 3DTV programs.

Acquisition execs from Sony, Discovery Communications and IMAX Corporation's joint venture 3D TV channel 3net will be on hand to screen programs from 3D content producers. A series of conferences on April 6 devoted to all aspects of the global 3D business are on the agenda to bring together producers, broadcasters, digital and mobile operators and hardware companies for 3D-centered discussions.

This year's MIPTV will be held from April 6 – 11 in Cannes.
