ITV Studios floated mini-series Titanic through Cannes, signing more deals for the international co-production that will set sail for 95 countries.

ITV signed deals in China with the Shanghai Joy Network, in Latin America with Nat Geo for its first-ever drama series, with VRT in Belgium, with Mexico’s TV Azteca, with SBS Channel Veronica in the Netherlands, with BBC Entertainment in Africa, with Manoto1 in Iran and with Mediacorp’s okto in Singapore.

The first episode of the show screened for MIPTV audiences on Sunday with writer and Oscar-winner Julian Fellowes jumping aboard with cast member Celia Imrie, Glen Blackhall and Geraldine Somerville for a Q&A panel.

“Titanic is an example of the global appetite for ambitious, event drama and the success of international co-productions in bringing these big ideas to screen,” ITV Studios Global Entertainment’s managing director Maria Kyriacou said. Added Lookout Point’s managing director Simon Vaughan: “This is a truly global event."

Filmed in Hungary, Titanic is a co-production from ITV Studios with Shaw Media, Deep Indigo Productions and Lookout Point in the United Kingdom, Sienna Films Inc. in Canada and Mid Atlantic Films in Hungary. The show is produced by Nigel Stafford-Clark and Chris Thompson and sold by ITV internationally.

The mini-series’ international premiere on ITV1 in the U.K. was hardly a shipwreck with the show boasting the highest ratings for a drama on ITV1 this year, with 7.4 million viewers and a 28.5 percent audience share in the time slot.
