Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino will be honored at the upcoming Ischia Global Film & Music Festival on July 12 with the festival’s Regina Isabella Global Award.
Following her award presentation, the festival will screen Scott Waugh’s 6 Below, a new film starring Sorvino and Josh Hartnett as former Olympic hockey star Eric LeMarque, who gets lost in the wilderness after an adrenaline-seeking snowboarding trip.
Sorvino's career spans comedy and drama with hit films including Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion and Summer of Sam. She is best known for her role as a kindhearted porn star and hooker in Woody Allen’s Mighty Aphrodite (1995), a role that earned her an Academy Award for best supporting actress. Sorvino has appeared in more than 60 films and TV shows and has earned Emmy, BAFTA, SAG and Golden Globe nominations for her diverse body of work.
“Mira Sorvino is a highly-respected artist who has delighted millions of people with her outstanding performances in a wide array of theatrical motion pictures and television movies,” festival founder Pascal Vicedomini said in a statement. “She genuinely deserves the recognition that the festival is bestowing upon her, and we are delighted that she will be coming to Ischia to accept it.”
Among other honorees, fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier and Oscar-winning makeup artist Alessandro Bertolazzi (Suicide Squad) will receive the festival’s excellence awards during its opening-night ceremony. Other honorees coming to the Italian island this year include Armand Assante, Lily Collins, Clive Davis and Colin Trevorrow.
The 15th Ischia Global Film & Music Fest is set to run Saturday through July 16 off the coast of Naples.
