Miramax embraces 'Last Night'
EmptyMiramax is picking up "Last Night," a romantic drama starring Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes, in a $4 million multiple-territory deal.
The film revolves around a married couple (Knightley and Sam Worthington) separated for a night when the husband takes a business trip with a colleague (Mendes) he desires. While he's away, his wife encounters her past love (Guillaume Canet).
The specialty division is closing a deal for rights in North America, the U.K., Australia/ New Zealand, Latin America, Brazil and South Africa.
Gaumont and Nick Wechsler Prods. are producing the first feature from Massy Tadjedin, who also is writing an untitled project for Steven Spielberg. Principal photography is under way in New York.
CAA packaged the film and co-repped North American rights with Gaumont and Endeavor. Gaumont is handling worldwide sales and will distribute the film in France. (partialdiff)
