Miramax to Make MIPCOM Debut Amid Global Sales Push

PARIS-- Miramax will meet MIPCOM for the first time in the company's history with CEO Mike Lang set for a keynote speech and the company ready to invade the content market with its extensive library, organizers Reed MIDEM said on Thursday. Lang will give a keynote speech titled "Media Mastermind Series" on Oct. 3.

“The Miramax film library is among the most respected in the world, and we believe the movies and the brand have tremendous untapped global potential,” Lang said, adding: “MIPCOM represents an exciting opportunity to meet and interact with global decision makers and establish meaningful partnerships."

Miramax hopes to continue to expand its international TV and digital sales business at the market when the company exhibits there for the first time and also develop film and TV programming to eventually, according to Lang, "ultimately launch Miramax-branded cable channels.”

Director of Reed MIDEM's TV division Laurine Garaude called Lang's keynote "one of MIPCOM’s highlights," adding: "Mike’s deep experience in the digital arena, ranging from Miramax’s recent digital content delivery deals with Netflix and Hulu, to his early involvement with trailblazers in the digital arena and his strong relationships with other large entertainment companies and private investment firms, will be of tremendous benefit in exploring future opportunities in the world of entertainment content.”

This year's MIPCOM market will run from Oct. 3 - 6 in Cannes.
