Mischa Barton Apologizes for Bikini Picture Posted to Protest Police Violence
"I'm human I'm not perfect..."
Mischa Barton issued an apology on Friday for a picture she posted of herself in a bikini, on a boat with a drink which she captioned with a message of sorrow over the recent deaths of African-American men at the hands of police officers.
The O.C. star said she did not mean to offend anyone after being hammered by critics for being tone deaf for the Thursday post, which has since been deleted (the image is here).
"I'm human I'm not perfect and I'm sorry if my Instagram post went out of context I didn't mean to offend anyone," the actress tweeted Friday morning.
Along with her original picture, Barton wrote, “I’m truly heart broken to watch videos like the #altonsterling execution. This may have been going on forever in the United States but thank god the pigs get caught on camera now.”
Following her apology Friday, she also tweeted around the slayings of five Dallas police officers, shot by a man who claimed he was angry over the recent killings of black men by white officers.
"Humanity is slipping through our fingers. Pray for the victims. Pray for our country. Pray for the world. #PrayForDallas," she wrote.
