A number of pageant’s contestants have headline-grabbing life stories, including Miss Iowa, who has Tourette's syndrome, Miss Montana, who is autistic, and Miss District of Columbia, who lost her mother and grandmother to breast cancer and plans on having a double mastectomy.
The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino hosted the 92nd Miss America annual show. The contest was broadcast on ABC, which preceded the pageant with an hour-long 20/20 special devoted to it.
