SYDNEY gets 'lucky'

Three films from the U.K. and two new Australian features headline the 12 entries chosen to compete for the Sydney Film Festival's inaugural Sydney Film Prize, organizers said Thursday. Mike Leigh's "Happy-Go-Lucky" will open the festival June 4. The fest ends June 22.

pick up for 'Elegy'

Samuel Goldwyn Films, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group and Netflix's Red Envelope Entertainment have acquired Lakeshore Entertainment's drama "Elegy," starring Penelope Cruz. Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi and Andre Lamal produced the feature, which hits U.S. theaters in August.
