Hearst posts soft Q1

Hearst-Argyle Television posted lower first-quarter results that trailed market estimates as ad sales declined. The company said Thursday that it expects to benefit from increased advertising from the U.S. elections and the Olympics this year. Net income for the first quarter rose to $10 million on revenue that fell 2.6% to $165.1 million.

Ticketmaster purchased the assets of SLO, a VIP ticketing service for live events. SLO's services include concierge delivery of premium seats, the hosting of on-site fan experiences and concert travel packages. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

GETTY Q1 PIC ISN'T PRETTY

Getty Images posted a sharp drop in quarterly earnings, reflecting increased expenses and a higher tax rate. The world's largest provider of stock photography said first-quarter net income was $23.9 million, down from $38 million a year ago.
