Kylie Minogue will be presented with one of France's highest cultural awards at a ceremony tonight in Paris. The Australian singer will receive the Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters on the eve of her world tour kickoff. The honor acknowledges her "contribution to the enrichment of French culture."

Oscar-winning singer-songwriter Randy Newman will release in the summer his first album of new material in nine years. "Harps and Angels," produced by Mitchell Froom and Lenny Waronker, arrives Aug. 5 via Nonesuch. "A Few Words in Defense of My Country," a single released exclusively to iTunes last year, will be included.

After several postponements, the Cure has announced a Sept. 13 street date for its still-untitled 13th studio album and plans to release four singles — one per month — beginning May 13. The Cure launches its U.S. tour Friday at Patriot Center in Washington.

Burger King said it is subsidizing ringtones of Warner Music Group artists on Virgin Mobile phones in an effort to reach more tech-savvy consumers. Ringtones will be priced at $1, substantially less than the $2.50 most Virgin Mobile ringtones sell for. Artists include Buckcherry, Danity Kane and James Otto.
