ICAHN EYES YAHOO

Yahoo shares jumped 5.2% on Tuesday to $26.56 after CNBC reported that financier Carl Icahn is mulling a proxy battle for control of the company. Yahoo shares have been in flux since the Internet pioneer declined a $47.5 billion offer to be acquired by Microsoft. Yahoo shareholders have a Thursday deadline to submit director nominees, with the annual meeting scheduled for July 3. Icahn and Yahoo declined comment.

EA posts Q4 loss

Electronic Arts said Tuesday that its fourth-quarter loss widened on a slew of charges, though adjusted results beat Wall Street's expectations. The video game publisher lost $94 million, compared with a loss of $25 million a year ago. Revenue jumped 84% to $1.1 billion.

Mediaset Mixed

Italian broadcaster Mediaset said Tuesday that its first- quarter revenue surged 13.9%, but profit slipped 6.4% as expenses rose. The broadcast giant includes Endemol.

O'Day in Disney IT role

Disney Co. said Tuesday that it has named Susan O'Day senior vp and chief information officer, reporting to CFO Thomas Staggs. O'Day will lead the planning, implementation and operations of the common Disney IT systems and infrastructure.

Clearwire shares jump

Shares of Clearwire jumped 6.7% on Tuesday to $13.60, a day after the high-speed wireless provider reported a wider loss as operating expenses climbed but said the number of subs rose 72% from a year ago.
