Wed.'s 'Idol' gets results

The penultimate week of this season's "American Idol" overshadowed everything else in primetime Wednesday, leading Fox to another nightly win. The "Idol" results show was the night's top show with 24.3 million viewers and a 9 rating/ 22 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to estimates released Thursday by Nielsen. CBS' "Criminal Minds" (12.7 million, 3.0/7) was the next-nearest rival at 9 p.m.

'Club' inflates Oxygen

The season finale of Oxygen's "The Bad Girls Club" made the network the highest-rated and most-watched cable network Tuesday among the female 18-34 demographic for the 10- 10:30 p.m. slot. The show averaged a 2.3 rating and 518,000 viewers among women 18-34, marking the first time the network has pulled in more than half a million viewers in the network's target demo. Overall, the telecast averaged 969,000 total viewers. It also tied last week's episode as Oxygen's most-watched telecast ever among women 18-49 (640,000).

Universal ride-along

Such big names as Judd Apatow and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will join Matt Groening, James L. Brooks and Kelsey Grammer at 10 a.m. PDT Saturday to christen the Simpsons Ride, based on the Fox hit, at Universal Studios Hollywood. The new attraction opens to the public Monday.
