Weather 1, fans Nil in Euro 2008 telecast

Lightning strikes and other bad weather in Basel, Switzerland, played havoc in Wednesday's Euro 2008 soccer coverage, with the international TV feed taken down three times, including during the thrilling final minutes of the Germany-Turkey semifinal. ESPN and other broadcasters missed two goals. The feed also went out with a few minutes left in the game as the Germans went up 3-2, the final score, with ESPN analyst Tommy Smyth left to deliver the news that the game was over.

News Corp. deal OK'd

The European Commission on Wednesday cleared News Corp.'s purchase of a 25% stake in German pay TV operator Premiere, but only after the U.S. media titan agreed to give third parties access to Premiere's satellite platform.

CBS News ups Logan

CBS News has extended the contract of one of its stars, Lara Logan, who will now be based in Washington. She will become the network's chief foreign affairs correspondent and continue as a "60 Minutes" correspondent.

'Penny' in the clear

"Family Court With Judge Penny," the freshman court series from Program Partners and 44 Blue Prods., has been cleared in 85% of the U.S. for its fall launch. In addition, the production team has been finalized.
