ABC won six Edward R. Murrow Awards on Tuesday, including the award for overall excellence, the most of any network. CBS was second with four awards, including best newscast for "CBS Evening News With Katie Couric." KOMO-TV Seattle won the overall excellence award for large-market stations, and WJAR Cranston, R.I., got the nod for for small markets. The Radio-Television News Directors Assn. will hand out its 77 national and local awards for excellence in electronic journalism Oct. 13 in New York.

Lionsgate said Tuesday that it has inked a first-look deal with Comcast Entertainment Group for the DVD distribution rights to series on E! Entertainment Television, Style Network and G4. The first Comcast home entertainment product to be released by Lionsgate will be the E! reality series "Sunset Tan" on Aug. 5.

G'DAY, TiVo

TiVo said Tuesday that it will officially launch in Australia on July 29 with the TiVo HD box, 12 months after announcing a partnership with the Seven Network to bring the service Down Under and one month after pay TV rival Foxtel launched its own high-definition PVR.

TBS Sports said Tuesday that it hired former ESPN analyst Harold Reynolds and Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley for Sunday's MLB All-Star Game selection show.
