PHILIPS RISES AT MARVEL

Marvel Entertainment, looking to further benefit from properties such as Iron Man and Captain America, promoted Simon Philips to president of worldwide consumer products. Philips was president at Marvel International. He will continue to head Marvel Worldwide Animation. Philips joined Marvel in 2006.

AT&T SHUFFLE

AT&T is reorganizing to put one executive in charge of its wireless and consumer fixed-line phone businesses. Wednesday's shake-up could make it easier for the company to hold off competition from cable companies by bundling fixed-line voice, video and Internet services with wireless — the so-called quadruple play.

GAMESTOP'S $700 MIL BUY

GameStop, the world's largest video game retailer, said Wednesday that it has agreed to buy French video game retailer Micromania for $700 million in cash, including the assumption of debt. GameStop will buy the company's outstanding shares from private-equity fund L Capital. The acquisition will be funded by a $150 million committed term loan from Bank of America.
