Gibson gets Bushes

The same week that Barbara Walters will interview President-elect Barack Obama in Chicago, ABC's Charles Gibson will interview President Bush and first lady Laura Bush. The anchor will ride with the first family on Marine One from the White House to Camp David during the weekend and do the interview there. It will air on Monday's "World News With Charles Gibson," "Good Morning America" and elsewhere.

Dish in Mexico

EchoStar on Tuesday unveiled a joint venture with Mexican media powerhouse MVS Comunicaciones. The venture, Dish Mexico, will offer service via satellites provided by EchoStar. The basic package includes 25 Spanish- and English-language channels for 139 pesos ($10.49) per month.

'24' second in U.K.

Almost 400,000 viewers in the U.K. tuned in to watch Monday's feature-length return of "24" on Sky One. Still, the two-hour special, titled "Redemption," lost out to homegrown spy thriller "Spooks," which scored 1 million viewers on BBC 3 with a new hourlong episode.

Bloomberg hire

Former Fox News Channel executive David Rhodes will join Bloomberg Television as the head of its North American channel. Rhodes, an original member of the Fox News team, will be in charge of Bloomberg's Americas region. He reports to Andy Lack, CEO of Multimedia at Bloomberg.
