CURTIS AT THE PODIUM

Jamie Lee Curtis will host the 21st USC Libraries Scripter Award on Jan. 30. For the first time in the award's history, the winners will be announced the evening of the gala. The selection committee, which this year includes Lawrence Kasdan, Tony Kushner and Tom Rothman, among others, has begun considering the 58 eligible entries.

COOGAN'S SPIRIT

Actor-comedian Steve Coogan will serve as master of ceremonies at the 2009 Spirit Awards, which will take place Feb. 21 in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica. Coogan appeared onscreen this year in "Tropic Thunder" and "Hamlet 2."

WINSLET WINS

Kate Winslet will be honored with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival's Montecito Award, which recognizes a performer who has given a series of classic and standout performances. The actress, who stars this year in "Revolutionary Road" and "The Reader," will receive the honor Jan. 23 at the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara.

EASTWOOD FETED

The 20th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival will present Clint Eastwood with its career achievement award at its Jan. 6 gala at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Eastwood next directs a drama set in post-apartheid South Africa starring Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman.
