LONDON CRITICS PET 'SLUMDOG'

Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" leads the field for the London Critics' Circle Film Awards with six nominations, including the Attenborough Award for British film of the year, director of the year and British actor of the year for Dev Patel. Steve McQueen's "Hunger," Mike Leigh's "Happy-Go-Lucky" and Ron Howard's "Frost/Nixon" earned five noms apiece. The 29th Critics' Circle awards will take place Feb. 4.

CLARK BACK TO SONY

Nigel Clark has been named senior executive vp international marketing at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Clark is returning to the studio where he worked in various marketing positions from 1990-2003, after a stint as executive vp international marketing at UIP.

CRITICS' PICKS

Kevin Bacon, Kate Beckinsale, Forest Whitaker and Josh Brolin are among the presenters who will appear at the Broadcast Film Critics Assn.'s 14th annual Critics' Choice Awards ceremony Jan. 8 the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, which will be broadcast on VH1.

MAYA IN MOTION

Maya Entertainment has begun production on two films with Tristan Leostar Films that are designed to target the U.S. Latino market. David Betances is directing "Fast Lane," starring Steven Bauer, and KC Amos and Dale Stelley are directing "Tamales & Gumbo," starring Saafir and Vida Guerra.
