'Morning' goes dark

Twentieth Television has opted not to renew its syndicated talker "The Morning Show With Mike and Juliet," citing economic concerns. "Morning Show" will produce original episodes through June and broadcast until September. The distributor also said Thursday that it has cleared off-net sitcom "My Name Is Earl" in more than 25 markets, representing 47% of the country, for its fall 2009 launch in syndication.

New guy in D.C.

CNN on Thursday promoted Sam Feist to vp of Washington-based programming. Feist had been political director and senior executive producer of political coverage from 2006-08 and played a big part in the creation of "The Situation Room With Wolf Blitzer."

'P.O.V.' pickup

Long-running PBS documentary series "P.O.V." has acquired national broadcast rights to two new documentaries premiering next week at the Sundance Film Festival: "El General" and "William Kunstler: Disturbing the Universe."
