What a 'Week'

An interview with President-elect Barack Obama handed ABC's "This Week With George Stephanopoulos" its first win over NBC's "Meet the Press" since June 1999. "This Week" won by a slim victory — 40,000 viewers — against "Press" for Sunday's show, in which Stephanopoulos sat down with Obama. "Press" beat "This Week" in the adults 25-54 demographic, however, with 1.5 million viewers compared with ABC's 1.4 million.

Charter trouble

Two subsidiaries of Charter Communications did not make scheduled interest payments worth $73.7 million on some of its debt by a mid-January deadline, raising the potential for a bankruptcy filing. The cable operator has been in discussions with bond holders to restructure its debt since December and said Thursday that it has the right to make interest payments within a grace period that ends in mid-February. If it doesn't make those payments by then, it will be considered to have defaulted on its obligations.
