'DEPARTURES' ARRIVES AT PALM SPRINGS FEST

The Japanese film "Departures" earned the Audience Award for best narrative film at the 20th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, which wrapped Monday. Director Yojira Takita's drama also is on the foreign-language film Oscar shortlist. The audience also selected Eric Bricker's "Visual Acoustics: The Modernism of Julius Schulman," a study of the architectural photographer, as best documentary. The fest, which screened 208 films from 73 countries, announced its winners Sunday during a luncheon at DST Studios in Palm Springs. For more winners, go to THR.com/film.

DONNER MAKES CUT

The American Cinema Editors will honor Richard Donner with its ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award. Lauren Shuler Donner, the director's wife and producing partner, will present the award Feb. 15 at the 59th annual ACE Eddie Awards at the Beverly Hilton.

'WALL-E' WINS AGAIN

The Online Film Critics Society has named "WALL-E" best picture of the year. The film also picked up awards for Andrew Stanton and Jim Reardon's original screenplay and was hailed as best animated film.
