APOLLO TURNS 75

Harlem's iconic Apollo Theater will celebrate its 75th anniversary season this year with a slew of activities, including the national launch of a new touring version of the musical "Dreamgirls," a fall TV special and a concert series featuring John Legend, among others. Also, a documentary to be directed by Stanley Nelson and co-produced by Charles Hobson of Vanguard Documentaries is scheduled to hit movie theaters nationwide in 2011.

PRINCIPAL PACTS

Principal Communications Group, the corporate communications firm run by Paul Pflug and Melissa Zukerman, has formed an alliance with Abrams Research Group, a new consulting group created by Dan Abrams that uses a network of freelance media professionals to offer media-related advice. The two aim to offer companies deeper research, consulting and tactical services.

ROSE AT SONY

George Rose has been named executive vp human resources and administration at Sony Pictures Entertainment. Rose, who previously served as chief talent officer at Ogilvy & Mather in New York, will report to SPE chairman and CEO Michael Lynton and co-chairman Amy Pascal.

'WINDOW' TO OPEN

Film Movement has acquired Argentinian director Carlos Sorin's "The Window," which it will release theatrically in May.
