'TYSON' IN RING AT AFI DALLAS

James Toback's "Tyson" and Louis Psihoyo's "The Cove" will share the closing-night spotlight April2 at the AFI Dallas International Film Festival. The fest also will honor Peter Bogdanovich with its AFI Dallas Star Award at a special Texas Day celebration at Dallas' Victory Park on April 3. The fest kicks off Thursday.

SHOWEST SPEAKS

Fox Filmed Entertainment chaiman and CEO Jim Gianopulos will deliver a keynote address at the opening-day luncheon of ShoWest on March 30. The confab runs through April 2 in Las Vegas.

OTTO DOUBLES UP

Rick Otto ("The Wire"), repped by Lighthouse Entertainment, will play a Navy SEAL in Jan De Bont's "Point Break Indo" and a World War II pilot in Anthony Hemingway's "Red Tails."

WU EXITS ENDEAVOR

Endeavor talent agent Daisy Wu is leaving the agency. The move comes amid speculation of a merger between Endeavor and WMA, which observers say probably will close within the next month. Among Wu's clients was Mira Sorvino.

PENCILS READY

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is accepting entries, due May 1, for the 2009 Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting competition. Up to five $30,000 fellowships will be awarded this year.
