LOWNDES GAINS 'ALTITUDE'

Jessica Lowndes ("90210") has risen to the lead in "Altitude," the feature directorial debut from Marvel Comics artist Kaare Andrews ("Hulk," "Wolverine"). Production will take place next month in and around Vancouver.

SNIPING AT SNIPES

Prosecutors in Florida want a judge to restrict Wesley Snipes' international travel because they say he attended a lavish party in Dubai while free on bond as he appeals a tax conviction. Snipes attended the $20 million party in November for the opening of the $1.5 billion Atlantis Hotel resort, U.S. attorneys in Ocala, Fla., said in court filings Tuesday. The federal prosecutors also asked that Snipes' bond be revoked pending the appeal.

OVERDUE HONORS

The 14th annual Los Angeles Public Library Awards dinner is set for May 27 at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. The night will honor Tom Brokaw; Veronique Peck, for preserving the Gregory Peck Reading Series at the Central Library, launched and endowed by her late husband, Gregory Peck; author and agent Larry Kirshbaum; and Union Bank.
