ISRAELI FEST SETS SKED

More than 30 movies will be screened at the 24th Israel Film Festival, running June 3-18 at three Los Angeles-area theaters. Opening-night events will include the West Coast premiere of "Lost Islands," the top-grossing release in Israel last year.

WINDER AT RAINMAKER

Canadian digital studio Rainmaker Entertainment has hired former Lucasfilm Animation executive producer Catherine Winder as president. Winder will develop original family content at Rainmaker, formerly Mainframe Entertainment, and expand its fee-for-work business with U.S. producers.

DUO LOADED

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Vinnie Jones will play rival assassins who form an uneasy alliance in "Weapon," which Russell Mulcahy will direct for new production company Flagship Films. Founded by producers Alison Semenza and Todd Moyer, Flagship aims to begin production in August in and around Vancouver. Flagship's goal is to produce five films per year, with as many as three to be filmed in 2009.

NEOCLASSICS ADDS

Culver City-based sales-rights rep NeoClassics Films has formed a production division, NeoClassics Production. NeoClassics chief Irwin Olian said principal photography on its first film — the romantic comedy "Gypsy Love" — will begin in October in New York.
