Mo Rocca Reads at Papal Mass at Madison Square Garden, Social Media Reacts

Mo Rocca

"I am deeply grateful and humbled to have delivered a reading at a Mass celebrated by [Pope Francis]," he tweeted following the NYC Mass.

Former Daily Show correspondent Mo Rocca delivered the first reading at Madison Square Garden's Papal Mass in New York before Pope Francis took the pulpit on Friday.

The CBS Sunday Morning reporter read the first reading (from the book of Isaiah), in Spanish, to a packed out audience prior to Pope Francis leading Mass.

Rocca, who also hosts Cooking Channel's My Grandmother's Ravioli, personally tweeted, "I am deeply grateful and humbled to have delivered a reading at a Mass celebrated by [Pope Francis]," following the Mass.

His reading sparked reactions from social media users during the live religious event. Among tweets from online viewers, one Twitter user, @Glenbrookemama tweeted, "#MoRocca played special role in beautiful Mass. Message of the gospel is love and mercy, justice and peace. Go forth!"
