Reports of Big Ang's death first circulated on Wednesday after several outlets reported that she had died, sending fans on Twitter into a frenzy.
The VH1 star was diagnosed with throat cancer last year and underwent several surgeries before later being diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. She appeared on yesterday's episode of The Dr. Oz Show (which was taped last week), to talk about her battle and what motivates her to keep going.
"I try to stay positive," said the mother of two and grandmother to six. "I look at my kids and my grandchildren, and I know how much they need me."
On Wednesday night, the star's hometown newspaper, The Staten Island Advance, reported that she has not responded to treatment and that her husband, Neil Murphy, and family members are by her side in the hospital.
