Angela Raiola, aka Big Ang of the VH1 reality series Mob Wives, is alive despite reports that she had died, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The reality TV star, who is currently battling stage 4 brain and lung cancer, is "in the hospital surrounded by her loved ones and is fighting," according to her representative, who took to Twitter to clarify her health status on Wednesday night.

"The news that has been reported is TOTALLY INACCURATE," began the statement via Big Ang's official account, posted in full below.

Reports of Big Ang's death first circulated on Wednesday after several outlets reported that she had died, sending fans on Twitter into a frenzy.

The VH1 star was diagnosed with throat cancer last year and underwent several surgeries before later being diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. She appeared on yesterday's episode of The Dr. Oz Show (which was taped last week), to talk about her battle and what motivates her to keep going.

"I try to stay positive," said the mother of two and grandmother to six. "I look at my kids and my grandchildren, and I know how much they need me."

On Wednesday night, the star's hometown newspaper, The Staten Island Advance, reported that she has not responded to treatment and that her husband, Neil Murphy, and family members are by her side in the hospital.
