Modern Executive Style
The costume designer of "I Don't Know How She Does It" creates his and hers corporate chic looks.
Kate Reddy (Sarah Jessica Parker) is a finance exec juggling marriage and motherhood in the Weinstein Co. comedy I Don't Know How She Does It (opening Sept. 16). "Kate has excellent taste but wears easy mix-and-match pieces," says costume designer Renee Ehrlich Kalfus (Friends With Benefits), who layered classic silk blouses, pencil skirts and jackets by A.P.C., the Row, Marc Jacobs and J. Crew. "Everything has a pattern or detail to make it special." Glamour wasn't the focus. "Sarah Jessica's such a fashion icon that she knew she really wanted to go for a character here," Kalfus says. Kate, who accessorizes with a Cartier Trinity ring and a Mulberry bag, soon finds herself working with Jack Abelhammer (Pierce Brosnan), a bachelor with a life of moneyed ease. His suits were custom-made by Brioni, a label he's worn since his Bond days. Ferragamo lace-ups and custom Stephen Dweck cuff links complete the look. "His style is impeccable," Kalfus says.
