Exec working on Pat Tillman docu for unit

Molly Thompson has been tapped as vp at A&E IndieFilms, the A&E Network's feature documentary arm.

Located in the New York office, she will oversee the branding and festival strategy for A&E IndieFilms, lead negotiations in contracts to finance films and in distribution deals and develop documentary projects for AETN's portfolio of networks.

"Molly's ability to foster filmmaker's creative visions and nurture relationships with theatrical partners has enabled A&E IndieFilms to bring to life some of the most authentic and dramatic documentaries of the past few years," said Robert Sharenow, senior vp nonfiction and alternative programming at A&E and Bio, to whom she reports.

Thompson's most recent project, RJ Cutler's Vogue-set documentary "The September Issue," will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. She is working on a Pat Tillman documentary for A&E IndieFilms from director Amir Bar Lev.
