The Monaco International Film Festival and its Angel Film Awards honor films, including features, shorts and documentaries, that increase awareness of social issues and promote cooperation and peace.

China’s A Dream of Red Mansions, directed by Gong Yingtian, will open the official selection with its world premiere. The opera epic is based on the mid-18th century classic by Cao Zuequin that follows a family through its changing fortunes.

The British short I Know You from first-time director Colin Gerrard will also make its European world premiere on opening night.

Japanese war drama IMPHAL1944, directed by Junichi Kajioka in memory of the 70th anniversary of the World War II Battle of Imphal, will premiere in the shorts competition.
