'Mongoose' on loose at Disney

Disney has picked up "Mongoose," an action comedy from writers Edwin Cannistraci and Frederick Seton. Tapestry's Peter Abrams, Robert L. Levy and Andrew Panay are producing.

Brian Sher, who developed the idea with the writers and brought the project to Tapestry, also will produce.

The logline for the pitch is being kept under wraps, though it has been described as having franchise potential and being in the tone of the "Beverly Hill Cop" and "Austin Powers" films.

Cannistraci and Seton are best known for "Pierre Pierre," a comedy spec that sold in the seven figures and attracted Jason Reitman and Jim Carrey. It is in development at Fox Atomic. The script was praised for its voice and comedic set pieces.

Tapestry is finishing up "Old Dogs" for Disney, a comedy directed by Walt Becker and starring John Travolta and Robin Williams.

Kristin Burr is overseeing "Mongoose" for the studio.

Cannistraci and Seton are repped by Category 5 and Jeff Frankel. (partialdiff)
