Montecito Picture Co. Acquires Comedy Spec 'Rockabye Baby'
Ivan Reitman, Tom Pollock and Joe Medjuck will produce the script from writer Chris Baldi.
Montecito Picture Co. has pre-emptively purchased Rockabye Baby, a spec script from writer Chris Baldi.
Little is known about the family comedy, but it is said to tell the story of an ill-prepared man who is thrust into the care of children — in the vein of Uncle Buck, the 1989 John Hughes comedy. Montecito topper Ivan Reitman and the company's Tom Pollock and Joe Medjuck will produce; the company has a first-look deal with Paramount and the project will likely end up with the studio.
Baldi wrote the Aston Kutcher- and Justin Bieber-starring comedy What Would Kenny Do? That project is set up at Sony and is the story of a teenager who encounters the holographic adult version himself; the hologram then leads the teen through high school.
Kutcher’s Katalyst Films and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment are producing Kenny, which made the Black List in 2008.
Baldi is represented by CAA, New Wave Entertainment and Howard Abramson and Jennifer Levy of Behr Abramson LLP.
