OTTAWA -- The 32nd annual Montreal World Film Festival will spotlight Bavarian film as it brings over a contingent of producers and filmmakers from the German state, organizers said Wednesday.

"We are very honored to present some of Bavaria's finest directors to a Canadian and international audience. I am convinced that this festival will intensify and lend wings to the dynamic partnership between Quebec and Bavaria," Bavaria's state minister Eberhard Sinner said.

German movies hailing from Bavaria include "Das Boot"(1981), "Cabaret" (1972) and "Asterix und Obelix" (1999).

The Montreal World Film Festival is set to run Aug. 21-Sept. 1.
